The Jameel House of Traditional Arts in Cairo hosts its first exhibition and sale of traditional art-inspired projects designed and made by students at the Jameel House, on 19-31 July 2023. Handmade using traditional craft techniques and natural materials such as copper, porcelain, wood and gypsum, the projects are testament to the skill and talent of students in the Jameel House's two-year diploma programme.
Taking place at the Jameel House in Fustat, Historic Cairo, the exhibition and sale run between 19-31 July 2023 from 12h00 to 18h00, except weekends and public holidays.
Launched in 2009 as a collaboration between The Prince’s Foundation School of Traditional Arts, Community Jameel, and the Cultural Development Fund of Egypt, the Jameel House in Cairo is an educational institute teaching classes in traditional geometry, observational drawing, colour harmony and decorative floral patterns, as well as specialised training in ceramics, glass and gypsum, metalwork and woodwork.
With a mission to preserve and champion Egypt’s oldest crafts, the Jameel House accepts around 20 students annually on a two-year training programme, developed and delivered by The Prince’s Foundation School according to the same principles and standards as the courses at the London campus.
