Launched in 2009 through a partnership between Community Jameel and the Prince's Foundation School of Traditional Arts in England, alongside the Cultural Development Fund of Egypt, the Jameel House of Traditional Arts in Cairo is located in the heart of Fustat. It hosts classes with the aim of preserving traditional craft skills ands techniques including geometry, arabesque patterns and colour harmony as well as specialised training in painting on ceramics, pottery, and an 8th century Japanese technique of natural dyeing.
