Ammar Jiman, a Jeddah-based artist and a graduate of the Jameel House of Traditional Arts in Jeddah, was a runner-up for The King’s Foundation’s 2025 Innovation in Practice award today.
The award was won by architect Yasmeen Lari. Timorous Beasties, a Scottish textile printing company, was also nominated.
Ammar Jiman's practice reflects and draws on the teachings of The King's Foundation School of Traditional Arts (KFSTA).
Between 2018 and 2019, Ammar studied at the Jameel House in Jeddah, the pioneering programme co-founded by Community Jameel and the KFSTA in 2015 in Saudi Arabia.
Since graduation, Ammar has developed his practice to incorporate natural dyes, pigment making, bio-materials, painting and palm weaving.
Ammar also teaches and practises in AlUla, where the KFSTA delivers craft programmes.
The 2025 Innovation in Practice award was presented at a ceremony at St James’s Palace in London, attended by His Majesty King Charles III, royal founding president of The King’s Foundation.
