LONDON, ENGLAND – 17 NOVEMBER 2025 | The Royal College of Music (RCM) in London announced Charlotte Jane Kennedy as the 2025 Andrea Bocelli Foundation–Community Jameel scholar.
A British soprano, Charlotte is a member of the RCM’s international opera studio, studying under Janis Kelly.
Described by The Guardian as possessing a “creamy soprano voice” that can “carry her effortlessly through one of the most demanding roles in the repertoire”, Charlotte triumphed as Susanna in the RCM’s 2025 production of Mozart’s ‘Le nozze di Figaro’.
In 2024, Charlotte won the Loveday Song Prize at the Ferrier Awards. She was named a 2023 Leeds Lieder Young Artist and a Bloomsbury Festival New Wave Artist.
Charlotte’s upcoming debut is as Vixen in Janáček’s ‘The cunning little vixen’ at the RCM in November 2025.
Her previous engagements include Giannetta in Donizetti’s ‘L’elisir d’amore’ (Garsington Opera) and an international debut as Fiordiligi in Mozart’s ‘Così fan tutte’ (Da Ponte Opera Festival) in 2023.
Her other roles at the RCM have included Maturina in Gazzaniga’s ‘Don Giovanni Tenorio’, La Bergère and La Chouette in Ravel’s ‘L’enfant et les sortilèges’, and Venus in Offenbach’s ‘Orpheus in the underworld’.
Charlotte has participated in masterclasses with Sir Thomas Allen at the Gŵyl Machynlleth Schubertiade with Roger Vignoles and Olaf Bär at the Wigmore Hall.
The Andrea Bocelli Foundation–Community Jameel scholarship was launched in 2019 to support students at the RCM.
It is awarded to talented musicians chosen on merit, assessed at audition, and their need for support to overcome barriers and access the world-class training available at the RCM.
The scholarship was established by the Andrea Bocelli Foundation, founded by world-renowned tenor Andrea Bocelli, and Community Jameel, an international organisation advancing science and learning for communities to thrive.
