Mohammed Jameel KBE visits the Jameel Observatory for Food Security Early Action in Kenya
Mohammed Jameel KBE, founder and chairman of Community Jameel, visited the Jameel Observatory for Food Security Early Action at the CGIAR International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) in Nairobi, Kenya.
Welcomed by Professor Appolinaire Djikeng, director-general, ILRI, and Guyo Roba, head, Jameel Observatory for Food Security Early Action, Mr Jameel met with the Jameel Observatory team, including Tahira Mohamed, a Jameel Observatory fellow, and toured the ILRI campus. The Community Jameel delegation also comprised George Richards, director, and Nader Iskandar Diab, senior policy and operations officer. Teresa Lezcano Cadwallader, associate director of policy, Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) Africa, also joined.
Launched in 2021 at the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow, the Jameel Observatory for Food Security Early Action is an international partnership led by the University of Edinburgh with ILRI, Save the Children, J-PAL and Community Jameel. Brokering science, knowledge and real-world action to develop inclusive solutions to environmental shocks facing dryland communities, the Jameel Observatory announced a new Academy of the Drylands at COP28 in Dubai.

The patron of ILRI is Peter Doherty, 1996 Nobel laureate for physiology or medicine.
