Automated system teaches users when to collaborate with an AI assistant

David Sontag is a principal investigator at the MIT Jameel Clinic, the epicentre of artificial intelligence (AI) and healthcare at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). David is also professor electrical engineering and computer science at MIT, and part of the Institute for Medical Engineering and Science and the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL).
His research focuses on advancing machine learning and AI, and using these to transform healthcare. David is the co-founder of Layer Health, a platform designed for the healthcare industry to unlock health data and use insights effectively and reliably. Its first product, Distill, uses AI to quickly perform clinical, administrative, or research tasks that requires chart review from unstructured data.
Previously, David was assistant professor of computer science and data science at New York University. He holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from University of California, Berkeley, and a master of science and a PhD in electrical engineering and computer science from MIT.
