Jameel House in Cairo
Samar Hassanain is a batik artist and instructor. She is a 2015 graduate of the Jameel House of Traditional Arts in Cairo, where she acquired extensive knowledge of various design techniques and handicrafts, including gypsum, brass work, woodwork and ceramics.
Inspired by the Islamic geometric and floral motifs that she studied at the Jameel House, she launched her own brand, Egyptian batik-ART, for which she designs fashion and home decor products using the traditional batik dyeing technique. She showcases her unique products at a shop in Souq Al-Fustat, Cairo.
Formerly an art teacher, with a degree from the Faculty of Art Eduction, Samar has a wealth of experience teaching children in multiple handicrafts. In addition to showcasing her work at her shop in Souq Al-Fustat, she has participated in multiple fashion shows, events and handicrafts exhibitions across Egypt.
