Seema Jayachandran

Co-chair, gender, Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab

Seema Jayachandran is co-chair, gender and an affiliated researcher at the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab. Her work focuses on economic development, gender equality, labour markets, health, education and environmental conservation.

Seema is a professor of economics and public affairs at Princeton University. She is a Sloan Research Fellow and recipient of the National Science Foundation Early Career Development Award and the Ecological Society of America's Sustainability Science Award.

Seema is co-editor for the American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, associate editor for the Quarterly Journal of Economics and co-director of the National Bureau of Economic Research's programme in development economics.

Seema holds a bacherlor's degree in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), a master's degree in physics and philosophy from Oxford University, and a PhD in economics from Harvard University.
