Thom Rawson (Jameel Institute) raises concerns regarding the spread of avian influenza following the first ever recorded case of H5N1 among sheep in Yorkshire, England.
Despite the virus recently jumping from birds to mammals, Thom tells The i Paper that the risk level still remains low:
“I do, at least as a scientist working in this field, have confidence that we do have a good eye on what is happening as this picture develops, which is the best position we could be in, and the best we can do then for farmers as well.”
