Katharina Hauck (Jameel Institute) speaks on an international panel of health experts to mark International Women’s Day at Imperial College London.
The panel dealt with the qualities of strong leadership, the importance of challenging the status quo, the barriers women encounter in leadership roles, community-led leadership and the requirements for creating tangible change toward a more equitable future in global health.
On the role of collaboration and teamwork in research, Katharina said: “In academia, it can be very lonely. We are often trained and expected to work on our own, but I believe that true power in academia comes from teamwork and bringing different disciplines together.”
