Ignacio Fuentes Ribas is the executive director of the MIT Jameel Clinic, the epicentre of artificial intelligence (AI) and healthcare at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Ignacio leads the MIT Jameel Clinic in its aims to use AI technologies to change the landscape of healthcare and to develop a community committed to producing excellent research work in the fields of machine learning, biology, chemistry and clinical sciences.

Prior to becoming the executive director of Jameel Clinic 2021, Ignacio was a director at Jameel Clinic and formerly COO of MIT’s Quest for Intelligence. An experienced international executive with a recognised risk management expertise, Ignacio has driven strategy and change management across multiple sectors, including at Generali group, General Electric and Santander.

Ignacio’s research interest lies at the intersection of technology, innovation, entrepreneurship and education, and focuses particularly on harnessing digital transformation and innovation to engineer superior customer journeys. He maintains a passion for new technologies, machine learning and block chain and is actively involved in the health-tech and fin-tech communities.

Ignacio took a degree in industrial engineering and operational research and a master’s in risk management, safety, prevention and ergonomics from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in Barcelona, followed by an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management. He is co-chair and board member of BSS Finance and Compensation Committee and a Directors and a member of the Chief Risk Officers Group (DCRO) Cyber Risk Governance council.
