In light of estimates that 1.7 million people faced crisis levels of acute food security in Kenya between October 2024 and January 2025, Guyo Roba (Jameel Observatory) calls for more funding for extreme weather early warning systems and a more holistic approach in their implementation.
In an op-ed for Context, Guyo remarks that “current levels of investment are woefully inadequate,” and early warning systems often “fail to take into account local and traditional methods of communication.”
