A new project launched by Community Jameel and the Jameel Observatory Climate Resilience Early Warning System Network (Jameel Observatory-CREWSnet) will partner with Bangladesh-based development organisation BRAC to pilot climate adaptation technologies in southwestern Bangladesh. Aimed at increasing the capacity of agricultural communities worldwide to handle the shocks of climate change, the platform will pilot initially in Bangladesh and Sudan. The project is led by Elfatih Eltahir, co-director of the Jameel Observatory and King HM Bhumibol Professor of Hydrology and Climate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab at MIT will also partner in the project to measure the effectiveness of climate change programmes.
