The International Monetary Fund cites research by Lisa Corsetto-Poon (J-PAL) in an article exploring the value of vocational skills training.
In the context of high levels of university debt and low student satisfaction, a J-PAL study in Uganda assessed income gains for people given free six-month vocational training.
Lisa noted: “The fact that vocational training is often more accessible, given lower costs to participants and shorter time commitments, means that these programmes could be promising alternatives to university studies.”
