Professor Esther Duflo, co-founder and co-director of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics in 2019, has dedicated her career to fighting against extreme poverty. Esther's innovative methods in economics research and local evidence-based programmes have revolutionised policy development and benefitted more than 600 million people globally.
Author of several books including 'Poor economics: A radical rethinking of the way to fight global poverty' and 'Good economics for hard times' with her partner and long-standing collaborator, Abhijit Banerjee, Esther prepares to publish a ten-part series adapted for children from their book 'Poor economics'. The children's series, titled 'Poverty explained for children' is illustrated by Cheyenne Olivier.
