For the Mittal Institute's Harish C Mahindra lecture this year, Indian-American actress Madhur Jaffrey shared stories from her upbringing in British India, her acting career and how she became an icon of South Asian cooking globally. Jaffrey was then interviewed by Abhijit Banerjee, co-founder and co-director of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and publisher of his own cookbook, 'Cooking to save your life', who asked her what she believes should be India's national dish. 'We’re too diverse a nation to have any one dish', she quipped.
