A recent data.org report identified an opportunity for 3.5 million jobs in data for social impact within developing countries alone over the next decade. The India Data Capacity Accelerator is a new initiative launched by data.org with funding from Wellcome and in partnership with the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) South Asia regional office, and takes a step closer to training one million, purpose-driven data practitioners in India by 2032. The accelerator will partner with three universities - Ashoka University, Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani and the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi - to train emerging data practitioners in interdisciplinary data skills required to address challenges at the intersection of climate change and health.
