Mongabay reports on the Drylands Summer School, a pastoralism conference hosted by the Jameel Observatory for Food Security Early Action and partners.
Focusing on the resilient nature of pastoralism, the convening offered guidance to young researchers on how they can turn their findings into policy recommendations.
One researcher explained: “In my community, I’m the only girl who has finished high school and university, and I’m also the first one doing a master’s. For me it has felt like a trailblazing situation from the place I’m coming from.
“Seeing so many people from the same location doing their PhD and master’s is something that’s giving me hope.”
