Community Jameel is excited to announce the release of the 2024 catalogue of works by graduates of the Jameel House of Traditional Arts in Cairo.
The catalogue features 34 pieces made by this year’s cohort of 19 graduates of the Jameel House in Cairo.
Using traditional materials and craft techniques and drawing inspiration from Islamic monuments from around the world, the works presented in this year’s catalogue pay homage to a proud tradition of craftsmanship and creativity in Egypt and beyond.
“This year, some of the graduation projects are simply wonderful,” Mamdouh Sakr, programme director of the Jameel House in Cairo, writes in his foreword. “Remarkably, all the works, from decorative gypsum panels to engraved brass trays, as well lighting features, enamelled plates and ceramics, chime in harmony with each other.”
