Despite concerns that doctors will become a relic of the past, AI is not a threat but an component in the future of health care. One key source of optimism is the work of AI Faculty Lead at the MIT Jameel Clinic, Regina Barzilay, who built an AI algorithm called Mirai, which improves the analysis of mammograms and detection of potentially cancerous cells among women. Mirai is currently undergoing trials at eight locations around the world, testing around 200,000 women.
